For the first time, a
Rhode Island establishment has earned the AAA Five Diamond Award. Ocean
House, in the Watch Hill section of Westerly, received that distinction
this year, moving up a notch from its four diamond ranking in 2011.
After a major renovation, Ocean House, originally built in 1868,
reopened in 2010, recapturing all the glory of its Victorian-era
splendor.
Other AAA Five Diamond Award properties and restaurants in southern New
England this year are: Winvian, Morris, Conn. (both lodging and
restaurant); The Mayflower Inn & Spa, Washington, Conn.; Four
Seasons Hotel Boston; Mandarin Oriental, Boston; The Ritz-Carlton,
Boston; L’Espalier, Boston; Menton, Boston; and Wheatleigh’s Dining
Room, Lenox, Mass.
