Comedian, Actress, Singer, Poppy Champlin knows how to make people laugh and is thrilled to be in the July series at The Theatre By The Sea. Poppy is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BFA in theater. She moved to Chicago and attended the Second City Improv Training Center. With her upbeat personality and quick wit she is able to seamlessly transition from comically discussing every day issues to improvising with anyone in the audience. She is also known for belting out silly and fun song parodies. Champlin won the title of America’s funniest real woman on The Joan Rivers Show and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show as well as VH-1, A&E, Showtime and LOGO to name a few and was a feature story on Entertainment Tonight. Also a producer and internationally known comedian, Poppy personally hand picks the comedians she invites to join her in each venue as The Queer Queens of Comedy. Poppy more than deserves each and every laugh she receives. She has worked hard to get where she is. “I wasn’t always this good.” She said. “Starting out as a comedian you’re not good.” She said matter of factly. She also teaches stand-up comedy at the Courthouse Center for the Arts. If you want to get into a very small class, 6 at the most, contact poppy directly at email@example.com.
