Read MoreJoin the Ocean House at the monthly Artisan in Residence weekend event to meet with nationally-recognized artists and artisans for hands-on art instruction, special lectures and reception. This month, meet Dennis Waring, Harp Builder. Friday, March 21, 5 pm – 6 pm in the Ocean House Lobby: Meet Dr. Dennis Waring, founder of Waring Music, ethnomusicologist, arts consultant, educator, author, instrument maker, collector, and performer. Saturday, March 22, 9 am – 12 pm at the Old School House: We invite adult students to create a unique wooden harp keepsake. Individuals will learn how to make their own harp to take home Saturday, March 22, 2 pm – 4 pm Old School House: Children and families will learn how to make their own harp out of recycled items. Sunday, March 23, 9 am – 11 am Old School House: Enjoy a chance to speak with Dennis, learn more about his craft, and interact with some of his pieces. Coffee, Tea, and Baked Goods will be Available. Sunday, March 23, 2 pm – 4 pm Drawing Room; Dr. Dennis Waring shares his journey to becoming a Harp Builder and the travels his craft has taken him. He shares his love of music and musical instrument manufacturing in his teaching roles at a number of distinguished Universities around the United States and was honored the Connecticut State Troubadour for both 2003 and 2004.
