The Chorus of Westerly presents its March concert, "This is the Day" in Westerly's historic Kent Hall on Sat, March 2, 6 pm and Sun, March 3, 2 pm. The concert features the Chorus performing a variety of works a cappella, with piano, and with organ based on Psalm text settings, including Allegri's famed Miserere. Performers featured are the Chorus of Westerly, with conductor Andrew Howell and pianist Melissa Woolverton . Works to be featured include (subject to change) Miserere, mei Deus - Allegri Psalm 121, Anglican chant - Davies Praise Ye the Lord (premiere) - Peter Niedmann Speak to one another of Psalms - Berger Jubilate Deo - Angela Hear my prayer - Mendelssohn Lift up your heads - Mathias De torrente from Dixit Dominus - Handel Like as the hart - Howells Psalm 150, Anglican chant - Goodenough I will lift up mine eyes - Hailstork Sing! (Widor Toccata) - Willcocks The program length will be 75 minutes with some commentary on the music from Andrew Howell. Kent Hall is considered one of the finest small concert halls in New England for choral music, orchestral/symphonic music, chamber music, light jazz, and opera thanks to its exceptional accoustics.
