Fred Scheff – Winter Sing – Warm songs for a cold day

Since joining Temple Shalom in 1995, Cantor Fred Scheff has been a guiding musical presence, leading the congregation in song and introducing them to Jewish music spanning ancient to contemporary styles. With Cantorial experience dating back to 1970, Fred has served communities at Temple Habonim, Lawrence Jewish Community Center, and Temple Beth David. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Music from Rhode Island College, a Master of Music, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Kansas University. Beyond his work as Cantor, Fred’s passion for music has led him to complete over 1,600 performances in concerts, operas, and oratorio across Rhode Island and nationally. He also teaches at the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic and is an adjunct faculty member at Rhode Island College. A North Kingstown native, Fred now resides in North Providence with his wife Carrie and two of their four children.
