Narragansett Nominated for Happiest Seaside Town
The South County Tourism Council has enjoyed a close working relationship with Coastal Living Magazine for over a decade and is pleased that Narragansett, RI is among this year’s finalists in their quest for America’s Happiest Seaside Town. This lovely beach side hamlet has long welcomed beach goers to their community to share in the picture-perfect splendor. “Surfing cool imbues this classic Victorian resort town … with a sense of playfulness that pairs perfectly with its long and tawny beaches along Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean,” says Coastal Living Magazine in their description of Narragansett. We couldn’t agree more!
The finalists were selected by reviewing every place that was considered a Dream Town over the past 16 years. From there, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being index, percentage of clear and sunny days, healthiness of beaches, commute times, walkability, crime ratings, standard of living and financial wellbeing of the locals, geographic diversity and the editor’s assessment of each town’s ‘coastal vibe’ were all considered. South County is grateful for this second nomination. Watch Hill was a finalist for the Happiest Seaside Town in 2014
We ask all Narragansett fans to vote often, once an hour, to help bring home the crown. The voting began February 13th, 12pm EST and will run through March 31st, 11:59pm EST. Cast your vote here: www.coastalliving.com/travel/happiest-seaside-town. The top ranking will be revealed in Coastal Living’s 2015 July/August issue.
