South County Days Unity luncheon

Each year, the Newport & Bristol County Convention & Visitors Bureau (NBCCVB) nominates an individual, business or organization to be recognized with the Governor’s Tourism Achievement Award at the Annual Rhode Island Tourism Unity Luncheon.

This year's honorees to be honored at a special luncheon on Wednesday, May 11 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick are the Downtown Bristol Merchants Association and the Newport-based radio station WADK AM 1540, according to a news release.

Governor Lincoln D. Chafee is scheduled to present both organizations with their awards at the 26th Annual Rhode Island Tourism Unity Luncheon, which welcomes more than 400 tourism and hospitality industry professionals statewide. The luncheon is the highlight of the state’s celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week (May 7-15), recognized nationwide with myriad localized events in cities, states and travel businesses nationwide to champion the power of travel, according to the Visitor's Bureau.

Wednesday's luncheon, to be held with the theme, “Partnerships & Collaborations,” will celebrate entities and individuals which spearhead cooperative efforts to promote the local tourism and hospitality industry.
