South County Photo Contest Winners Announced

Wakefield, R.I. – South County Tourism Council recently announced the winners of their 13th Annual South County Photo Contest at a press conference and reception, held at the South County Museum.  South County Tourism Council awarded $2,000 worth of cash prizes to entrants who captured the essence of South County’s 449 square mile tourism region. The winning photographs, along with several honorable mentions, will remain on display at the museum until September 7th.

Ingrid Mathews of Wyoming, R.I., won first and third place; second place was awarded to Gina Campbell and runners-up Ingrid Mathews, Gina Campbell, Timothy J. Caron and Dale Loomis. Also this year, our judge awarded the “Monet Prize” to Eric Wertheimer.

Myrna George, president and CEO of South County Tourism Council, observed during the awards presentation, “South County photographers are remarkable in capturing the best of South County!  We are truly inspired by their photography as we create next year’s South County Style!!"

Dr. Steve Wood, Professor of Communications and Film Studies at University of Rhode Island (URI), judged this year’s contest. Dr. Wood is also an award-winning photographer.
