The South County Tourism Council is honored to win gold for our 2021 Visitor Guide, Float in the 30th Annual North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) Awards. We were first in the Destination Marketing Organization category, “Visitors’ Guide”.
“We are particularly honored as, due to Covid, we didn’t do a costly print guide in 2021, but redesigned and streamlined our guide into a digital-only version called, “Float.” We are a small team and we were able to produce this award-winning publication completely in-house,” says Louise Bishop, President.
The North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) announced the winners of the 30th Annual NATJA Travel Media Awards Competition. Awards were made to publications, travel journalists and photographers, and destination marketing organizations. Winning entries from major publications included Condé Nast Traveler, National Geographic Travel, Travel + Leisure, Matador Network, and Air Canada enRoute. Among the destination marketing organizations receiving honors were South County Tourism Council and Kansas Tourism. A complete list of the winners and honorable mentions is linked here.
“As NATJA celebrates 30 years of recognizing the best in travel journalism, we are proud of this year’s list of winners,” stated NATJA CEO, Helen Hernandez. “In spite of Covid-19, 2021 submissions provided an opportunity for unique experiences that resulted in thoughtful, informative, and safe travel stories. Thank you to all who submitted and to our judges who spent countless hours reviewing each and every submission. We celebrate all your work and efforts and hope that you will join us in celebrating this year’s winners.”
One first place (Gold) winner is chosen in each of the categories along with 2nd (Silver), 3rd place (Bronze), and Honorable Mentions. To qualify for an award or honor, work had to be published from October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021.
