Young BoulderThe Trolls - The Rhode Island Troll Trail began in South County in 2024 in Ningret Park in Charlestown. In 2025 Thomas Dambo built 3 new Trolls, one in Richmond, Young Boulder.  You can find Young Boulder in the Browning Mill Pond hiking area. These larger-than-life figures, constructed from recycled materials add a bit of magic to the woods and make for a fun day exploring around Richmond.

Richmond AracadiaArcadia Management Area- The Arcadia Management Area is a sprawling state-managed forest and trail system offering hiking, kayaking, fishing, fresh air, and quiet escape. This property is one of the few places in Rhode Island where it is quite possible to see a Pileated Woodpecker. Fishing, hunting, hiking (more than a dozen trails), mountain biking, swimming, horseback riding and motorcycling are available on the 14,000 acres of forest.  

 

Meadow Brook GolfGolf Courses- For the golf enthusiasts, there are 5 golf courses in Richmond, making it the town with the highest number of golf courses per capita in Rhode Island.  The Richmond Country Club is an 18-hole championship public course set amid pine forest, ponds and rolling terrain and Meadow Brook Golf Course is often described as a “hidden gem” in southern New England.

 

Washington County FairWashington County Fair-Each summer, Richmond becomes home to one of Rhode Island’s largest events — the Washington County Fair. Established in the town’s fairgrounds on Richmond Townhouse Road, the fair showcases agricultural exhibits, live music, midway rides, youth shows and more, all celebrating South County, and Rhode Island’s agricultural heritage.
