Gilbert Stuart Fall Fair 2024

Back after 14 years! Join the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace* for the return of the end-of-season Fall Fair. The historic Hammond Grist Mill will be running, grinding corn as it has done since 1757. Take one last peek around Gilbert Stuart’s birthplace before they close for winter, enjoy apple cider and donuts, live music, crafts and games, and a fifty-fifty raffle. Immerse yourself in autumn with a walk through the woods on the nature trails, or follow in George Washington’s footsteps and have your portrait done by Massachusetts caricature artist Dave MacDonald.

The Gilbert Stuart Museum remains one of Rhode Island’s best-kept treasures, with its authentically restored and furnished 1750 home, working gristmill, gardens, woodland trails, art exhibitions of period works, and more.

*Gilbert Stuart was one of 18th-century America’s master portrait artists. Stuart is best known for his unfinished Athenaeum portrait of George Washington. This is the image seen on the U.S. one-dollar bill. Gilbert Stuart is widely considered to be one of America’s foremost portraitists. The unfinished portrait of George Washington was begun in 1796 and never finished;

Triangle of Trolls Corn Maze

Known throughout the state for their pure maple syrup, Spring Hill Sugar House in Richmond offers plenty of fall fun. Enjoy walking through the Triangle of Trolls Corn Maze, picking your own pumpkin, fresh pressed cider and donuts, antique tractors, engines, demonstrations, live music, and kids activities.

Fall Fest and Pumpkin Stroll

Beautiful Wilcox Park in Westerly is home to an enjoyable afternoon and evening of Halloween fun for all ages. Delight in the free cider and donuts at the Third Annual Pumpkin Stroll while voting on your favorite pumpkins. Come dressed in your Halloween costume and partake in a variety of games and activities in the park. Interested in submitting a pumpkin to be displayed in the stroll? Free pumpkins are available on Saturday, October 19th, while supplies last, or you can also provide your own pumpkin.  Prizes will be awarded at 6:00 PM to the winners!

Leaf Peeping Paddle

South County is home to a federally designated National Wild and Scenic River. These rivers capture the essence of all waterways that surge, ramble, gush, wander and weave through our country preserving a part of the American story and heritage. Join Wood Pawcatuck Watershed Association for a spectacular fall color paddle from Frying Pan Pond to the Wood River. This paddle is great for beginners and wildlife viewing

Festival Farm

Located in Hope Valley, Festival Farm celebrates Fall!  Get engaged with the animals at the petting zoo (not just for kids), a playground area, and a kiddie train!   A farm that loves animals, they have Alpacas, Jacob Sheep, Barbardos Sheep, Pygmy Goats, a Pony, Mini - Donkeys, an Emu, a Bunny,  barn kitties and Lady Amherst Pheasants. The Petting Zoo is open every day, and be sure to visit the Country Store for fresh eggs, produce in season, soda, candy, jams & more.
