According to the The Knot, the second most popular month to get engaged is a tie between May and July. Usually considered popular months for weddings, these are also popular months for proposals. Why? Fourth of July is up there on the list of top proposal dates, just after Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day. May is tied due to the Memorial Day holiday. Both holidays, Memorial Day and Fourth of July, are times when extended families gather over several days, making it an ideal time to announce an engagement.

South County in the months of May and July provides a beautiful, natural backdrop for the perfect proposal. Whether you choose to propose on one of our 20 public beaches, one of our beautiful wildlife preserves or somewhere else you find special, the scenic beauty of the area will lend a romantic atmosphere to your big proposal.

A few of our resorts and hotels offer extravagant proposal packages. The Forbes triple-five star rated Ocean House in Watch Hill offers their Tower Suite for special proposals. The three floor suite is decorated in a blue and cream nautical theme and offers cozy fireplaces, a roof deck overlooking the ocean and even a ladder to the roof  with dramatic views of the Atlantic, Napatree Point, and Watch Hill.

At the more laid-back, yet equally luxurious Weekapaug Inn, whether you choose one of their signature suites or one of their Fenway suites, the magnificent sunset views of the salt pond and the cozy soaking tubs will make for a romantic proposal.

If you're a lucky bride-to-be who gets proposed to in the next couple of months, one of your first priorities is to find a venue. Take a look at some of our wedding venues, and feel free to reach out to us if you have questions, info@southcountyri.com.
