5 Safe Ways to Have the Best Possible South County Beach Experience this Summer:

South County, Rhode Island is still welcoming visitors this summer. We understand you're getting a lot of mixed messages about whether it's safe to visit, if we're allowing visitors and what the rules are. We're here to make sure you understand that:

  1. You are welcome here!*
  2. Our beaches are open! Only two beaches, Misquamicut State Beach and Scarborough State Beach have had their parking lot capacity reduced to 25% recently due to people not socially distancing and not wearing masks. We have 20 public beaches, so there are plenty of others to choose from if these two are full.
  3. You can check to see if parking is available at the beach you want to go to in real time here.
  4. Please follow the rules:
    • Wear your mask as you're entering or exiting the beach.
    • Wear your mask at the concession stands and restrooms.
    • Wear your mask if you're walking around the beach.
    • Maintain at least 6 feet social distance from other beach goers who are not in your group.
    • Take your trash with you.
  5. If you'd like to ensure you will have a beach spot, here are some surefire ways to be sure you will have beach access and not have to worry about parking:
